A small scenic beach that doesn’t get as much traffic as other beaches in the Pacific Rim partially because the surrounding protected water makes for small waves keeping the surfing crowd in other locations. Tonquin is close to the downtown of Tofino, however it is off the beaten path and is a beautiful little beach a the end of a scenic trail down a cedar staircase and through the forest. The beach has views of Clayoquot Sound and you will often see boats going by.
The trail keeps going past Tonquin beach down to Third beach where there is a lookout down the coast including Leaonard Island.
