Parksville Beach

Parksville Beach is a popular location for many in the Central Island area. There are volleyball nets up just off the beach and akid’s park area with plenty of parking. If you haven’t ever been to a sand castle competition, the annual sandcastle competition July 9-16, is worth checking out. Professional sand sculptors travel from all corners of the globe to participate in this amazingworld-class competition. The sculptors have a total of 24 hours spread across 3 days to create their ingenious creations from only sand and water.

The event begins Thursday July 9^thwhen sculptors build and fill their forms. The public can watch the carving take place starting Friday, July 10 at 2 pm. Judging will take place on Sunday from 3-5 pm and the winners will be announced Sunday at approx. 5:30 pm. The gated exhibition will remain open to the public running until Sunday, August 16th from 9am-9pm daily. Voting for the “People’s Choice Award” begins after judging for the main competition has been completed.
