Hiking the Wild Pacific Trail
The Wild Pacific Trail is in Ucluelet BC just south of Tofino BC and is the prettiest short hike on the coast in my opinion. There are two sections to the Wild Pacific Trail. The first section is the most visited and one of the prettiest outings you can take on Vancouver Island. I would suggest starting at the lighthouse on Coast Guard drive and making your way to the right part of the trail. There is also about 5 minutes to the left that is very pretty as well. If you were to do the whole loop it would probably take you about 1 hour. The trail actually does a loop, but I always suggest that people hike the part with ocean view. As you go each along the ocean you notice different aspects of the beauty. After walking/running it many times I still stop in awe of the beauty and will notice something different every time I go.
It is really more of a walk than a hike and anyone of any age should enjoy this short adventure. I would suggest bringing your camera and planning to spend some time just to take in the natural beauty. There are wind blown trees of every shape and size. The way some of the trees are wind blown is very unique and not like many places along the coast. Below are some pics I took my last time out. Next time I will get a few more pics.
Enjoy your trek!
Its amazing trees grow on rocks. With the large amount of moisture it is possible in this region. Even though the summer doesn’t see much rain, there are plenty of days with morning or evening fog or mist.
Some kelp resting on the rocks at low tide. There are many kelp beds around the Wild Pacific Trail.
