Tofino, BC Canada

Tofino is a must on your bucket list. It is raw, wild, untouched wilderness on the edge with campgrounds to beautiful resorts to host you. The Pacific Rim national park is between Tofino and Ucluelet (30 mins south of Tofino) and here you can hike, relax on the beach, surf, SUP, go fishing, whale watching or enjoy the sunsets with your significant other. In a busy world of fast moving technology, cars, high-rise buildings and concrete it is nice to just get out and enjoy nature and decompress.

So who is Tofino for? All ages find the Pacific Rim one of the best places on earth. There is a good mix of campgrounds, luxury resorts and good restaurants that keep Tofino feeling relaxed, fun and fresh. I would suggest coming for a week to decompress, enjoy the nature and just relax from the fast pace that makes you enjoy a place like this so much more. If you are looking at fitting in a BC vacation into a week, I would spend at least 3 days here and the rest in Victoria and Whistler. If you can take more time that would be optimal. You don’t know what kind of weather you are going to get here and that is part of what makes this place what it is. It is called the Wet Coast for a reason and you never know when you are going to get some form of moisture, whether fog, mist, or rain. The weather of course is never predictable, but if you come in the summer months you should get some sun while here.

Remember August is called “Fogust” so keep that in mind. You can get fog in any one of the summer months though, so don’t just plan you vacation around that. There are plenty of trails away from the ocean you can hike. Or if you haven’t seen the fog, then you may enjoy it for a bit.

Whatever you do, remember to bring your camera. The Tofino/Ucluelet area is one of the most breathtaking scenic areas you can come to and you will probably use half your film roll here. Out of all the places you will visit in BC, this one will make you wish you had upgraded to that 64 gig SD card.
