Wickaninnish Beach is officially the southern part of the 16km (10 mile)Long Beach, however it is marked on maps and signs as Wickaninnish. The beach is named after Chief Wickaninnish who ruled the Clayoquot Sound in the 1700’s.
The first thing you notice when entering the beach is the border of driftwood that lines it. Stray floating logs, flotsam and jetsam from the summer’s northwest winds.
