Bowen Park

The park is located at 500 Bowen Rd. Bowen Park has it all, so enjoy all it has to offer.

A 36 hectare park in the middle of Nanaimo, Bowen Park is a great wilderness escape with some great interpretive signs giving the perfect self tour. May is great time to come and check out the Rhododendrons in bloom throughout the park. With many trails running throughout the park, you may see a duck pond, a salmon stream (during the fall season on the Millstream trail),  and birds and small wildlife.

Here are some other amenities Bowen Park has to offer:

  • 25-metre swimming pool
  • 6 tennis courts
  • 4 volleyball courts
  • curling arena
  • two picnic shelters
  • two playgrounds
  • lawn bowling
  • horseshoe pit

Bowen Park was donated to the City of Nanaimo in 1918 by the Western Fuel Company of San Francisco with a condition for park use only. The official registration took place in 1931.
